"Bringing pet food to people coping with life in the effected areas has been an important and rewarding part of our work here. Yesterday one of our teams walked through an area in Iwate that had suffered catastrophic damage from the tsunami, and they approached people walking dogs, to see if they had enough pet food on hand.
One woman was so happy to receive food that she cried, telling us that she had not been able to feed her dog real dog food for the past two weeks. Reaching out to individual people, who are working so hard to care for their pets under such difficult circumstances, is an essential part of our ongoing work in the region." - Together with its partners JEARS is providing important support to pets and their companions in Japan.
